ITSEC Asia and SGCI Partner to Strengthen Cybersecurity Capabilities in Côte d'Ivoire

ITSEC Asia, a leading cybersecurity company in Indonesia and Asia Pacific, through its subsidiary ITSEC Services Asia Pte. Ltd., and Société de Gestion et de Concept en Informatique (SGCI), an established Ivorian information technology services, audit and integration firm, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly deliver advanced security operations capabilities to public institutions and critical infrastructure operators in Côte d'Ivoire. The partnership marks ITSEC Asia’s first entry into Africa and furthers its international expansion strategy across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. The two companies intend to work together on national-scale security operations projects in Côte d'Ivoire.

As public and private sector organisations in Côte d'Ivoire accelerate their digital transformation, their exposure to cyber threats is increasing. In industrial and critical infrastructure environments the growing convergence of information technology, operational technology and industrial control systems is creating broader and more complex attack surfaces. Addressing these risks requires advanced cybersecurity capabilities that offer continuous monitoring, detection and response.

Patrick Dannacher, President Director of ITSEC Asia, said: “Organisations in Côte d'Ivoire are being asked to defend increasingly complex environments, and that requires sustained operational capability, not one-off engagements. SGCI has spent more than twenty years building the trust and the engineering depth that this work depends on. Our role is to bring the technology and the operational experience that sits behind it. This collaboration is part of our broader international strategy to work with established partners in each market and make advanced cybersecurity capabilities more accessible to the Ivorian organisations that need them.”

Under the MoU, SGCI will lead local client engagement and delivery, drawing on more than two decades of operations in Côte d'Ivoire and its established capabilities in information systems audit, integration, offensive security and digital forensics. ITSEC Asia will act as SGCI’s cybersecurity technology and capability partner and provide cybersecurity solutions, technical expertise, training and ongoing support for SGCI's local teams.

Cyrille Koffi, Managing Director (Gérant) of SGCI, said: “Public institutions and critical infrastructure operators in Côte d'Ivoire need cybersecurity that is operated continuously, locally and in compliance with national regulation. SGCI brings more than twenty years of presence, a recognised audit practice and proven integration and security operations capabilities. With ITSEC Asia's technology and scale, we are building a sovereign response, hosted and operated locally, starting with national-level projects.”

In support of these projects, ITSEC Asia, as SGCI's technology partner, will make available, through SGCI, its security operations centre, managed detection and response, threat intelligence, OT/ICS security assessments, training and its IntelliBroń Orion platform. SGCI will contribute its expertise in governance and compliance, information systems audit, offensive testing and digital forensics, together with integration, hosting and local operations.

ITSEC Asia Threat Intelligence Research Identifies Early Signals of GodDamn Ransomware Activity

ITSEC Asia, announced the release of a new research whitepaper, From Sample to Signal: Uncovering the GodDamn Ransomware Operation. The paper details ITSEC Asia’s Threat Intelligence research into GodDamn ransomware and finds that ransomware should be treated as a broader intrusion process that can develop well before an organisation sees its most visible consequence: encrypted files. The paper highlights the need to detect credential abuse, remote access, lateral movement and interference with security controls at an earlier stage. ITSEC Asia’s Threat Intelligence Team identified several behaviours associated with GodDamn that could provide security teams with earlier warning signals of attack. These include suspicious execution, Registry and service activity, ARP scanning, SMB probing, high-volume file modification and ransom-note creation. The samples examined also demonstrated file-processing and encryption capabilities across Windows and Linux environments. In one documented incident examined as part of the research, activity preceding ransomware deployment included remote access, credential collection, network discovery and lateral movement. At least ten hosts had been affected before the ransomware was deployed. Patrick Dannacher, President Director
